Coopers Haworthia (Haworthia cooperi) - Small

Haworthia Cooperi Var. Obtusa, native to South Africa, is a rare, stemless succulent with smooth, round-tipped leaves that form rosettes. The fleshy leaves are a lovely blue-green color with translucent patterns, resembling miniature clear watermelons. This succulent typically grows to a height of 3-5 inches and a diameter of 4 inches.

Haworthia Cooperi's small size and charming appearance make it a desirable succulent for any living space. It makes a perfect mantlepiece plant and requires little effort to grow. Even those with busy schedules can enjoy its resilience under neglect.

Haworthia Cooperi succulents, despite their frail appearance, are remarkably resilient and adaptable to various conditions. This species, like all Haworthia plants, has a slow maturity process (lasting from six months to one year) and a long lifespan.

Haworthia Cooperi prefers moderate light exposure compared to other succulent plants. When growing outdoors, aim for 4 to 5 hours of bright, indirect morning sunlight per day. For indoor houseplants, display this plant near an east or west-facing window for optimal lighting.

The watering frequency for Haworthia Cooperi is determined by its growing conditions. It is recommended to deeply water this succulent during the fall to spring season, at least once a week or whenever the top two inches of soil are dry. Ensure proper drainage after watering.

The optimal temperature range for cultivating Haworthia Cooperi Var. Obtusa is 68F to 72F, though it can tolerate temperatures as low as 50F. However, extremely cold conditions can significantly hinder its growth. If the climate in your area frequently dips below 40F, it is recommended to cultivate this succulent indoors or in a portable container for safeguarding against frost damage.

Like other succulents, Haworthia cooperi thrives in well-drained, sandy soil. For optimal results, mix equal parts of potting soil, coarse sand, and perlite with shredded bark or compost. Alternatively, you can purchase a pre-made cactus or succulent soil mix and add perlite or pumice to improve drainage.
