Many people will start with a larger hardier mantis like the Giant African or Asian species then branch out to slightly more difficult species like orchid mantis.The large species tend to be slower moving and slightly easier to manoeuvre or handle so can often be a good introduction to mantis care. more exotic species while feistier and faster are generally much more active and colourful.They have a weekly diet of livefoods such as crickets and require fresh water.
