Geckos are a very popular group of pets in the UK
Some live in the canopy while others burrow
For the most part they don't require much space
They are mostly carnivorous but some will eat fruit or nectar
Very colourful and active pets in beautiful enclosures
Geckos are a diverse range of exotic pets. Some, including the leopard gecko or crested gecko, are extremely popular pets for first time reptile keepers. Some less commonly kept species like the New Caledonian giant geckos or Madagascan day geckos kept in beautiful bio-active enclosures can be a gorgeous centrepiece in any home or office environment.
Geckos can be found all around the world so their care will change from species to species. Ideally we aim to create something similar to the geckos natural environment and would provide heat and UV where required. Tree dwelling geckos usually like cooler temperatures so we would keep them in tall glass enclosures. Burrowing or ground dwelling geckos usually enjoy a constant heat so we would keep them in shorter wooden enclosures
Geckos usually have a live insect diet but as they come from such a range of places there are species that might eat fruit, nectar or vegetation. We usually provide a range of supplements with the diet to make sure the gecko gets everything it needs.
